The A-May-Zing-Race (The Last Leg)

(Cont'd from Part 1c)

**************************************************
Clue #23: The Last Leg (23 May 2006, 9pm)

In this last leg, both team members have to do do 2 LOs each. And my team came up with these.

LO #1: Pick a Funny Photo of yourself, spouse, kid etc. List at least 5 random funny memories or funny tidbits.
Journal reads: Monkey see, monkey do ... Mr. 孙悟空 is such a good spot. Told him to pose for this shot and he really did. Isn't he such a dear.

He did another pose for me 3 years back when we were at Canberra. This picture still managed to put a smile on our faces when we see it.

We give each other pet names and he likes to names me after animals (I wonder why ...). Suprisingly he always manages to find similarities to the things I do (irritating right ... haha).

No matter how bad a situation, he would always be able to cheer up the atmosphere with his funny analogy and makes everyone smile.

Fast in picking up one's mistakes and adding a humorous touch to it is one of his famous traits. His 'suan-ing' skills no one can beat. I only pity his sister as she is always his target board.

LO #2: Then and NOW - BOM challenge. Pick a photo of yourself from 10 years ago and a current photo. (2 photos) And tell us how you change or have change. What did you see differently in life? How's your attitude now and then? What's different in your life? Journal that. Hidden Journal reads: NOW: contented life; dysfunctional family; the world is not mine to keep; a lil boy’s teddy bear; there’s more to life than eat, sleep & play; carefree & matured
THEN: perfect life; perfect family; the world revolved around me; daddy’s lil girl; knew nothing but eat, sleep & play; carefree, naive & innocent

LO #3: What occupies your mind? - BOM challenge. Sometimes I wonder, what do you think about? What kind of stuff occupies your mind? And why? What do you wonder about or wish you understood? Journal reads: What would my life be if I had not met my husband? Would I still be in Australia fulfilling my permanent residence requirements or would I be in Singapore working hard to climb up the corporate ladder?

What kind of life would I lead if I had not become a mother? Would I continue to look forward towards weekend for drinking sessions and late nights with friends or would I be contented to stay at home just to relax?

Whatever my life would be or could be, there’s only one thing for sure now ... I am a HAPPILY married woman BLESSED with a good husband and a loveable child.

What more can a woman ask for in life ...

LO #4: A tribute to a Loved one - This is a tribute to someone that has passed away. It could be a friend, a family member etc. Journal what you remember about that person. Some memories you want to remember and pass on. Journal reads: My late maternal grandmother was known for her Lunar New Year & Peranakan dishes. Luckily for me, I can learn the skills from my mum ... provided I’ve ignited enough interest for it *kekekeke* She was also known for her ever-ready smile. Luckily for me, Junior inherited that from her. Her alertness at the Mahjong Game was also one of her unforgettable traits. Unfortunately for her, both me & my mum didn’t inherit that. LOL!!!

**************************************************

We are Team #3. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Altho we didn't win the race, we're very proud that we managed to be the 3rd team. And we enjoyed ourselves very much = stressing & cracking our brains over the challenges. LOL!!!!

Thanks for Looking. :)

The A-May-Zing-Race (Part 1c)

(Cont'd from SB AR Part 1b)

****************************************
Clue #18 (20th May 2006, 1005am)

This is strictly a paper LO. No digital. Do a LO with the word BELIEVE in it. You must also use chipboards on the LO. The LO must be 8x8 and larger.

And this is what I came up with.
Opens up to a "I was a NERD for a day".Hidden Journal
Thereafter we got clue #19 @ 11am which Irene attacked with such anger that she finished it in 30 mins.

****************************************
Clue #19 (20th May 2006, 1130am)

This is an OCCASION challenge. Please scrap a 2 page LO of your fave occasion...What's an occasion? It could be Christmas, National Day, a trip to the zoo, a vacation, a birthday... you get the drift. Remember to include what's the occasion on your post. And oh, you need to do a LO with at least 4 photos.

With this, we got Clue #20 at 12pm.

****************************************
Clue #20 (20th May 2006, 130am)

Do a LO of your favorite things in your fave color!! Remember, the photo has to be of an inanimate object. No people, no pets... just things. And remember to include some journaling.

For example, your fave drink is coke. So do a LO of coke in your fave color (say..green).

And I managed to come up with this LO w/in 1.5 hrs.

We got Clue #21 on the very same day @ 9pm.

****************************************
Clue #21: Elimination Pit Stop (20th May 2006, 1035pm)

This is Clue #21 and it's an ELIMINATION pit stop.

For this challenge, it's an AD inspiration challenge. You MUST use the AD attached (click HERE) as an inspiration. Any teams that do not do that will be disqualified and have to re-do the LO. So look at the ad carefully.

This is a PAPER Layout challenge only. No digital layouts.

I finished the LO w/in 1.5hrs ... again *cheesy grin*

With this, we'll get Clue #22 on 22 May 2006, 9pm.

****************************************
Clue #22 (22 May 2006, 1058pm)

Do an LO and journal abt what you find beautiful in yourself.

Irene took up this challenge and we submitted it at 10pm. But I made a big mistake with the journalling so she had to redo everything :(

With this, we got the last clue immediately. But we are to submit on 23 May 2006, 9pm.

Altered Album Makeover

I had always wanted to change the look of my 4x6 altered album. Mainly to make it to a 4x4 album cos the LOs are all 4x4. In order to do tat, I need to get the 4x4 page protectors. But the LSS dun carry this size. So I hv to make do with the current size 4x6.

Currently, there's a new craze for altered items in the forum. More like altered cheese boards. These boards were used to cut cheese. And I always read it as CHESS board. LOL!!! With this craze, it had infected me to do an altered item too. With nothing to use, except my 4x6 album, so why not. Re-altered the album.

And this is what I came up with.

Wha'cha Looking At ?

This LO was done for the AR's Clue #12 - white space & sramplift from 2Peas' Danielle Marie Claire. I scraplifted form this LO of hers.

TFL.

The scanning had caused the pink pp to be blurred and to hv its color look weird.

Happy Mother's Day !!!

This LO was done for the challenge - about yourself being a mother, what u love and what keeps you going.

This is one cheesy LO .... with lots of mistakes too.

The A-May-Zing-Race (Part 1b)

(Cont'd from SB AR Part 1a)

*************************************************
Clue #12: 4th Pit Stop (12 May 2006, 1015am)

The challenge is to have white space on your LO and to scraplift one of Danielle Marie Claire's LOs on 2peas.

And this is what Irene came up with, scraplifted from this LO.

*************************************************
Clue #13 (12 May 2006, 815pm)

Challenge: In scrapbooking, it's all about trends.. what's in and what's out. Right now, the current trends are using notebook paper and using stars on LOs. Please create a LO using notebook paper and stars. To help you along, scraplift one LO by Jackie Bonette, one of 2Peas's Creating Garden girls.

And this is what I came up with, scraplifted from this LO.

*************************************************
Clue #14: 5th Pit Stop -cum- Elimination Round
(12 May 2006, 1115pm)

This challenge is to "make friends". We are to seek the permission of another user in the forum forthe use of their photos. Then churn up an LO with it.
This is what Irene came up with within 2hrs upon receipt of this clue.

With this, we will get Clue #15 on 14th, Sunday, @ 9am.

*************************************************
Clue #15: Detour (14 May 2006, 1202pm)

We got the clue on 14 May 2006, Sunday, 9am but was instructed to post the LO on 15th, Monday, after 12pm.

This challenge is to scraplift from 2 art pieces given. And I scraplifted from this art piece.

The pp are from Jasbeanie’s free chocolate digi-kit. Digitally, the pp look nice and thus the LO also nice. But when printed out, it didn’t turn out the way I expected. Nevertheless, I had fun agonizing over the placement. LOL!!! Then hor I think I over inked the edges. Kekekekek!!!

TFL.
With this, we'll be getting Clue #16 at 9pm tonite.
*************************************************
Clue #16 (15 May 2006, 9pm)
We got the clue via email at 9pm and Irene started working on it. And this is what she came up with.
The challenge is to do an LO based on a LOVE Song. And Irene used part of the lyrics of UB40's Fools Rush In as her journal.

*************************************************
Clue #17 (17 May 2006, 1230am)

We got the clue in our email on 16th (Tues) at 9am. But I can only start on it after work.
We are to scraplift from this pillow. And I finally managed to finish it before 1am. And this is what I came up with. BTW, tat was me at 9mths old *giggle*

*************************************************
Clue #18 (19 May 2006, 9am)

There is an YIELD in this round.

We got the clue but was yielded for one day. So we can only submit on 20th, Saturday, after 10am.

The A-May-Zing Race (Part 1a)

(Cont'd from SB AR Part 1 ...)
*****************************************
Clue #10: Road Block -cum- Fast Forward
(9 May 2006, 9am)

The 1st 2 teams to submit will be forwarded to the 3rd Pit Stop directly, thus earning themselves 2 days' rest.

This is an altered item Road Block. You have to alter a piece of CLOTHING!
Take an old piece of clothing that you do not want to use anymore and alter it using scrapbook products. You can use ribbons, buttons, papers, stitching etc. What you cannot use is FABRICS. No FABRICS are allowed except for ribbons. And you need to use at least 5 DIFFERENT products.

Example of pieces of clothing: Old Jeans; Old T-shirts; Your child clothes etc.

Rules: a. It must be an altered item. No LOs. b. You can cut up the clothing and make into something...like a bag or a cushion cover. OR you can just decorate it with buttons etc. Just don't make a LO with it.

Now I'm waiting to reach home, settle dinner & ds' revision for his last paper 2mrw. THEN I can start work'g on it.

930pm
This was what I came up with in 1hr.

With this, we got the clue/challenge to the 3rd Pit Stop.

The A-May-Zing Race (Part 2)

Since today is NSD, I decided to tackle the AR's challenge which I didn't do.

And this is for Clue #1 - Ben Harper's With My Own Two Hands. It was also scraplifted from Elsie Flannigan's LO for 2Peas' NSD - What Inspires Me: Life

Surprisingly, it took me just under 1hr to complete it *kool* Just FYI: Jnr had injured his Mr Pointer on the left hand thus he wears the glove for medication when sleeping *giggle*

The A-May-Zing Race (Part 1)

The SB Gang in the forum is hv'g the A-May-Zing Race. Yup, it's the SB version of the Amazing Race with the Pit Stops, Detour, Yielding and what-have-you. LOL.

I partnered with a digi-scrapper Irene Chin. And since I also started with digi-scrapping, we name our team The Digi-MamaS. So I will be posting our submissions for the race as we move along.

**************************************
Start of the Race: Clue #1 (1 May 2006, 9am)

The race started yesterday's morning at 9am. And the 1st 2 teams to complete the challenge will go to the next Pit Stop.

My partner took the lead. The challenge was to make use of part/some of the lyrics of "With my Own Two Hands" by Ben Harper. And this is what Irene did.

Clue #2: Detour (1 May 2006, 11pm)
We didn't make it to be the 1st 2 teams so we were given the Detour Challenge at 11pm. And I came up with this.

Do an LO with the following color-combi:
1. Blue & Green
2. Black & Yellow

**************************************
Clue #3 : Road Block (2 May 2006, 4am)
I had received the Road Block Challenge in my mail early this morning at 4am. So I had emailed to my partner too. Will post the LO pictures once it's done.

10pm
These are what my partner submitted for this Road Block.

3 May 2006, 9am
Resubmitted the following picture cos the road sign submitted earlier got disqualified. LOL!!!

Detour is a photo challenge. We are to take pictures of the following
1. An elevator with ppl in it
2. A red flower on a skirt or blouse
3. A road sign
4. Something orange
5. A washing machine doing laundry

We'll be getting the next clue/challenge on Friday, 5 May 2006. Then it'll be my turn in the Race.

**************************************
Clue #4 : Yield Round (5 May 2006, 9am)

We got the clue/challenge in the email at 9am. Within 2hrs, 2 other teams (who got the clue the same time) had submitted their LOs. SHOCK!!!! It was frightening manz. But also thrilling. LOL.

So Irene decided to churn up the LO herself, instead of waiting for me. LOL!!! Guess she's more anxious then me. LOL!!! So while she's cracking her Creative Juices, I cracked my Language Juices. Fortunately, her LO doesn't need to hv a title, so tat saves me lots of brain cells. Kekekekek!!!! We managed to come up the journalling real fast and I got her to do some changes to the LO. And this is the final copy.

The challenge for this LO
1. A 2-page LO
2. Each page has to be 8x8 or bigger
3. Journal abt the 5 advises you wish to impart to ur kids

I think we'll be getting the next clue tonite at 9pm via email.

**************************************
Clue #5 (6 May 2006, 12pm)
This challenge is to coincide with National Scrapbooking Day. We were to do up an LO abt why we like SB. And this is what I came up with.

Clue #6 (1230pm)
Soon after we got our next clue which coincides with the upcoming Mother's Day. We are to write an 8-line poem with these words "Mother", "Love" & "Child".
And this is what I came up with.
Mothers suck
But they help you to buckle up
Mothers nag
Until their breasts sag

Mothers give the best love
Like the soft feathers of a dove
Mothers’ love is unlimited
But their breast milk is limited

Nothing can separate a mother from her child
Not even the dinosaur from the forest wild
Nothing is more powerful than the mother‘s love for her child
Thereafter we got our Clue #7 which is the Elimation Round. So I will be cracking my head after lunch.
**************************************
Clue #7: Elimination Round (6 May 2006, 3pm)

This is the 1st-come-1st-win round with the elimination looming over our heads. So I started working at the challenge from 130pm. And finished it by 3pm.
The challenge was to scraplift from one of 2Peas CG girls Jamie Waters using a list of products' brand.

This is what I came up with. And our team is Group #3. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was scraplifted from Jamie Water's Christmas.
Product List
White Bazzill CS
Basic Grey PP
Red Basic Grey Alpha Sticker
American Craft blue/white checkered ribbons
Dark Blue RicRack
Heidi Swapp Flower Chipboard
No-brand cursive alpha sticker
No-brand staples

With this, we've reached the 2nd Pit-Stop where we will rest for 2 days. Therafter, we'll receive our next challenge on 8 May 2006 @ 9am.

**************************************
Clue #8: Detour (8 May 2006, 9am)

We got our challenge in the email and Irene went to work at it & she managed to churn out the LO in world-record time!!!! Darn freaky manz. LOL!!!! And this was what she came up with.
The challenge for this round coincided with the upcoming Mother's Day. And we are to do an LO of our Mother. A picture of our mother is compulsary.

And 20mins later, we got our next clue (#9) in our email (again). I told Irene to slow down ... kekekek ... Cos there are still a few more teams who hasn't submitted their challenges. So we can afford to wait for me to knock off fom work. LOL!!!!
*************************************
Clue #9 (9 May 2006, 1215am)

I was late in submitting the challenge. Thus we are the 2nd last group for this leg of the race. Nevertheless, it was another world-record for me. Cos I churned out this LO in 1hr 15mins. Kool!
The challenge was to use the following items ONLY to do a scraplifted LO from 2Peas' Elsie Flannigan.
1. Black CS
2. Ribbons
3. Buttons
4. Patterned Paper

I scraplifted from Elsie's Treasure LO.

With this, we'll most probably get the next clue (#10) at 9am later today. And it will be the Road Block -cum- Fast Forward. The 1st 2 teams to submit for the challenge will go to the next Pit Stop directly. Therefore having a 2-day break. I doubt my team has a chance cos I'll be at the realm and I'm working too.
*************************************
(Continute to Part 1a)
